THE LOCAL MEDIA AND YOU A LISTENING SESSION

The news landscape has changed, how is this new delivery of local news serving you? Are you able to keep abreast of the news you need to be an informed citizen? What is not being covered sufficiently? Are these sites trusted? Impartial? Thorough? The NKY Forum would like you thoughts on this topic.

About the event

The news media landscape has changed dramatically in recent years, both nationally and locally. In Northern Kentucky, one of our two local major dailies, The Kentucky Enquirer, is still publishing though with diminished resources.  The Enquirer, like other dailies, has invested more in its website and, meanwhile, television stations have invested more in their sites, creating – in some instances – online, digital news sites tied to local television station that provide breaking news, weather and sports. New and significant digital players are present, too, including the Northern Kentucky Tribune, Soapbox Media, Link NKY, and the Kentucky Lantern.

How is this new “delivery” of local news serving you? Are you able to keep abreast of the news you need to be an informed citizen? What is not being covered sufficiently? Are these sites trusted? Impartial? Thorough?

The Northern Kentucky Forum would like you thoughts on this topic. We are hosting three small group discussions to listen to you. Our facilitator will be there to guide the discussion but we will not have a panel of experts as the Forum often does. You are the experts for this discussions.

Our volunteer scribes will be present to take notes (but not names), and we’ll gather what is said at all three events and produce a “A Report to the Community” that we will share with the media outlets.

There are ten seats at each session. Please select a time and place convenient to you. Each session will last no more than 90 minutes. Light refreshments provided.
